If you will be carrying a chainsaw the builders pack would be much better. I have never used one before, but a few of the other builders in the area have them and are very happy with how the pack works.

@NechakoRiver i will do that. im brainstorming between apex and builders pack. i do as much trail building as i do riding.

If I had one I would do a review. If you google dakine builders pack some reviews do come up.

    cool thanks!

The tube is easy to remove. It comes out a slot in the top of the pack and through some mesh on the shoulder strap.

  7. Mauken26 says:

can you take off the whole tube? i am a student and im getting this backpack in the next week and i dont want to carry the backpack around with the tube on if im not going to use it

Who knows, I have heard good things about Dakine doing warranty stuff before so it is worth a try.

  9. GeaserakaErik says:

dude no way they do that????

  10. NechakoRiver says:

Ouch, have you tried calling Dakine to see if they can do a crash replacement?

  11. GeaserakaErik says:

My god that is what heaven must like!! I really need to upgrade my backpack!

Mine has no leaks, the quick release is great. The pack has a small hook to hold the bladder in place so any brand should work just fine.

The zippers seem to work well. I have used it in light rain with no problems.

  14. alabumni says:

    1. did the quick release leak? i’ve heard of other quick releases leaking. and is it velcro at the top of the bladder compartment or what–could i put my camelbak bladder in there if i wanted?
    2. how waterproof were the zippers after use?

    it’s a nice looking pack

  15. NechakoRiver says:

I think it is the 08 model, I’m not sure what the capacity is though.

  16. nomatesman says:

which size apex is this? great review by the way

  17. NechakoRiver says:

I do like the side pockets, they are great for carrying trail maps and snacks.

The Drafter looks nice, I wouldn’t mind one for days when I don’t want to carry a lot of extra stuff.

  18. werf4 says:

very similar to my dakine drafter, yours has the two side pockets though.

  19. NechakoRiver says:

    That was a great deal!

  20. Hotsoup42 says:

  21. NechakoRiver says:

    Dakine makes good stuff!

  22. redbullman303 says:

    very good reveiw thank you:)

  23. NechakoRiver says:

I don’t always carry all that stuff but the pack feels really good even while loaded up.

I have been using it a lot and I think it is the most comfortable pack I have ever used.

I would recommend it to anybody.

  24. 8xlaxx says:

I just got a new Apex,…$75 USD! Great pack. You sure do carry a lot of stuff in your pack, must be heavy.
